Description
ALL-HU takes mahjong out of the hidden-information gambling genre and rebuilds it as a perfect-information puzzle. Every hand on the table, the pool and the discard pile are face up. You are not one player at the table — you are all of them, and the level is only cleared when every hand reaches a winning shape at the same time, inside a fixed budget of moves.
The action language is deliberately small: swap a tile with the pool, reclaim one from the discards, or trade a tile between two hands. On top of that small verb set the game layers rule modifiers — forbidden tiles, locked tiles, required yaku, timers — which is where the difficulty comes from, in the spirit of Slay the Spire's relics or Baba Is You's rules.
Every level is generated and then verified by the game's own C++ solver, so no level ships unsolvable, and each level's three-star threshold is set from the shortest solution that solver could find rather than from a designer's guess.
History
- Prototyped as a browser proof-of-concept to test whether a god's-eye mahjong board was a puzzle at all.
- Rebuilt in Godot 4 as a two-hand game, then extended to four hands once the swap verbs proved to scale.
- Hu validation, yaku scoring, shanten, the A*/BFS solver and the reverse-walk level generator were ported to a C++ kernel with a GDScript reference implementation kept as a fallback and a parity oracle.
- The name changed from Mahjong Cross to ALL-HU in July 2026: 'Cross' described the means (swapping), 'ALL-HU' describes the win condition players had already started using as the name for the mode.
- Content was rebuilt around the verified-solvable pipeline, ending at 900+ shipping levels across tutorial, story, free and challenge modes.
Features
- 900+ levels, every one verified solvable by the game's own solver
- Four modes: a 17-lesson mahjong course, an 11-chapter story, 200 free-mode levels, and a 577-level challenge ladder with hand-crafted zhenlong boards
- Two-hand and four-hand boards — from tidying a single hand to orchestrating four at once
- Three-star thresholds set from each level's solver-verified solution, not from a designer's estimate
- Teaches mahjong from zero: tiles, groups, the winning shape, yaku and han, special hands
- Ink-wash illustration and a guzheng score across an 11-chapter story mode
- Fully offline, no account required
- Nine languages
